Hi, my name is Chippy. I'm a black-tri Australian Shepherd. I was born April 14, 1997 and lived in Newport Coast, CA until February 2006. I was busy! I played all the time. My Mom and I went through training at Good Dog University to help me enjoy life more and stay safe. I took agility classes, went for long walks every day and went to the Bark Park where I could run and play with all my friends.
In late November, 2005 I started coughing every now and then. In early December, my Doctor at Arbor Animal Hospital discovered I had lymphoma. I started chemotherapy right away at the Veterninary Cancer Group in Tustin, CA. Dr. Davis, Dr. Rosenberg, Alisha (my Tech) and the staff were very caring and experienced. They were like family. I went into remission after only two treatments. What a great feeling!
In February, 2006 we moved to Ohio. I continued my treatment at MedVet Oncology with Dr. Fulton, Colleen (my Tech) and the rest of the MedVet Oncology staff. They became part of my new family and always took such great care of me. I loved seeing Patti K. who was there to greet me each time I arrived at MedVet.
Though I stayed "healthy" and happy during my treatments, there came a time when my lymphoma became more and more aggressive. Dr. Fulton's knowledge and expertise in this field, along with the team at MedVet Oncology, helped me tremendously but eventually my lymphoma became resistant to treatment. Though it was tremendously difficult, it was time for me and my "mom" to say good-bye (5.16.06).
All during my treatment, finances were never an issue for anything I needed to have a fighting chance. We were very fortunate. However, we knew others sadly had to make life and death decisions due to finances alone.
We don't want the inability to pay for cancer treatment to be the 'decison-maker' in whether treat a pet's cancer or not. That's why my fund was created! Click on The Fund to learn more our charity!
Remember, we need your help to make dreams come true for others! Thank you for supporting the healthcare of MedVet's oncology pets with me!
Love,
Chippy
